It’s a special week in Horror History, my friends. In this sick, sick world of ours, it’s always important to learn about the past so we don’t make the same mistakes in the future. I don’t know what that has to do with Horror History, but it sounded profound. So let’s get into this, elbow deep.

June 13

Happy, happy birthday, baby! This  day marks one of our favorite silver screen slashers birthday! Mr. Machete himself, Jason Voorhees, was born this day back in 1946! If you ask us, he doesn’t look a day over 30. It must be the water of Camp Crystal Lake that keeps him looking so young.

The name doesn’t leave much up to the imagination. It’s not like he goes around hugging people to death! Way back in 2013 (think hard) the bloody 3rd installment dropped.

This day in history marks the birth of the Godfather of Gore! If you’re not familiar with the works of Herschell Gordon Lewis, you should be. On the “eyeroll of death” scale, you’d be somewhere in the middle of ‘3rd degree burns on the insides of your eyelids’ and ‘sliding down a 15 foot serrated blade. backwards’. So get out from under your rock.

A tragedy, and a classic released. This day in horror history, we saw the passing of director,Robert Wiene and the release of Alfred Hitchcock’s, Psycho. Did you know Robert escaped the Nazi persecution of World War II by seeking exile in France? See, you learned something today. Did you know I couldn’t take a shower unless it had clear doors vs. a shower curtain? The iconic shower scene of Psycho scared people for years.

This sequel confused a lot of fans of the first film. I’m still unsure of it to this day, but I keep on watching it. This movie follows the once possessed and now older, Regan MacNeil, who finds that the evil who once took over her body is still fighting for her soul.

One of my all time favorite movies! Director, Alexandre Aja, keeps you on the edge of wetting yourself in this mindfuck of a movie. Strap yourself in for the night, and cuddle up with this flick. You won’t regret it, I promise.

Iconic, to say the least. You know the music once it hits. The original Twilight Zone series unfortunately came to an end on this day back in 1964, but it has seen a silver screen release, and multiple reincarnations on TV since then.
