Salutations, my HorrorBuzz familia. In this week’s Horror History, we take a look at some memorable moments from over many years. Some great, some… not so great? I guess it depends on your perspective. Let’s get into it.

Way back in 1966, the supernatural soap opera known as, Dark Shadows, graced the small screen for the first time and continues to cast a shadow on all vampire adaptations. Tim Burton recreated the story for the big screen. 3 guesses how that went.

The man himself, Mel Brooks (Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles), was born on this date back in 1926. If you’re not a fan of Mel, then you must live a painfully sad existence.

Remember when I mentioned not so great? It wasn’t just because of Tim Burton’s recreation of Dark Shadows. No. This 2005 remake of War of the Worlds was released, and starred running extraordinaire, Tom Cruise. Sorry, not sorry. I am not a fan.

The great Vincent D’Onofrio (Men in Black, The Cell) was born back in 1959, and simply kills it on the small, and silver screen. If you haven’t seen him in The Salton Sea, I suggest you queue it up, like yesterday.

Horror royalty, Karen Black, escaped vaginal jail on this day back in 1942. I could go on and list her many accomplished rolls, but then I would be taking away countless hours of your life. She’s that good.

Wow. Back in 1986, one of my favorite movies was made. I seriously hope you’re in the same boat as me, if not, you need to reevaluate your life because Big Trouble in Little China is celebrated in this house.

I’LL KEEP SAYING IT UNTIL I’M BLUE IN THE FACE AND FLOATING FACE DOWN IN A POOL OF SUPER MODELS. If the word, “Dead”, is in the title, then it is more than likely a George A. Romero release. In this continuation of his zombie apocalypse takes us out of the night and into the day. I’m still waiting on “Brunch of the Dead”. The remake start the multi talented Nick Cannon, but we prefer the original.

Well, everyone. This concludes this week in Horror History, and we couldn’t be happier with it. Like any good flashback of historic events, we can take the good and the bad and make a life lesson out of it. Like, don’t cast Nick Cannon in a flick and give him a, “black man with a spear” joke. That’s just poor taste.
