The 4th of July came early on Monday night at The Frida Cinema in Downtown Santa Ana as HorrorBuzz’s Horror Movie Night showcased the original blockbuster: Steven Spielberg’s Jaws.

The lobby was decorated up with red, white and blue for Amity Island annual celebration.

Mayor Hansen welcomed everyone to the island assuring that any rumors of a man-eating shark were nothing more than ridiculous stories.

After stopping by the local snack bar to pick up some food and beverage, the tourists were on their way to beach.

Some chose to sit safe on the sand while others braved there way in to the water.

As shark facts and summer safety warnings flashed across the screen, those that had opt for the water soon found out they weren’t alone.

Before the main attraction, the visiting tourists were treated to a ride through of the late Jaws attraction from Universal Studios Orlando. And, as always, there was trivia and prizes.

Prizes that included a blu-ray copy of Jaws, a DVD copy of The Jaws Collection featuring Jaws 2-4, and tickets to this year’s Midsummer Scream at the Long Beach Convention Center July 28-29 (Make sure to catch Horrorbuzz’s own Screaming Room film festival at this year’s event.)

Everyone had a terrific time as all agreed that even after nearly 45 years, Jaws still holds up. The iconic shots and classic lines, the horrifying shark attacks and the tense drama as Quint tells Brody and Hooper of the terror following the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. They all work as well today as they did then.

Horrobuzz.com’s Horror Movie Night happens the last Monday of every month at The Frida Cinema (305 E. 4th Street #100 Santa Ana, CA 92701). July’s film will be announced soon.
