Monday night was prom night at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana as Horrorbuzz’s monthly Horror Movie Night showed the Brian DePalma directed Stephen King classic Carrie. Attendees came dressed in their prom attire and the lobby and theater were decorated up for the “Love Among the Stars” prom. A photographer took everyone’s prom photos in the lobby as everyone waited for the “gym” to open for the evening.

Horrorbuzz writer Mike Hansen was on hand as Principal Hansen. He made sure everyone had their prom tickets and they stayed in line. A rumor was circulating that the punch may have been spiked.

Norm Gidney, editor of Horrorbuzz, was drama teacher Mr. Gidney and he took on the duties of host for the evening. This included running the competition for prom king and queen. The competition was fierce but in the end the choice of the crowd was clear. Our prom queen took a seat on her throne and soon found herself doused in our own version of pig’s blood.

The crowd has a great time including several who were experiencing Carrie for the first time as well as other who hadn’t seen it in some time. The film stars Sissy Spacek as the telekinetic title character who is tormented by her classmates and her overbearing devoutly religious mother. The audience was also treated to trailer for next month’s film, Jaws.
