Irreverent Imp imposes instrumentation of irresistible insatiabilities to impressionistic, irresponsible, incompatible, interchangeable intercollegiate individuals in this inevitably incomprehensible film iteration.

Sorority Babes 2: In the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama is the new horror/comedy about a murderous Imp causing mischief for the Sorority House Pi Epsilon Delta presented by Full Moon Features. The story goes the Imp grants everyone one wish that inevitably goes horribly wrong.

Directed by Brinke Stevens, the pacing is all over the place. Most of the time its people sitting in a room talking but there’s no plot or character development just bad puns, cringe-worthy sexual innuendo, and gratuitous sex scenes. Lots of them. This is practically pornography with the horror elements being put on the back burner. It takes over 30 minutes for them to get to the bowling alley, find the trophy they’re after, and meet the Imp. Some of the kills are humorous and downright creative but the second half feels incredibly rushed and the conclusion is anticlimactic.

The screenplay was written by Kent Roudebush. He tries too hard to be funny and the jokes only land once and a while. The humour is frequently forced with slapstick and unnatural dialogue. Some subplots either make no sense or go nowhere. With fewer characters, more time could have been devoted to making the people feel more realistic.

The acting is all around and isn’t very good. It’s so bad it’s distracting sometimes. All the characters are so bland and unlikeable. If some were given distinct personality quirks they wouldn’t all feel like their the same person in interchangeable roles. Kelli Maroney is Auntie Snake, the one running the sorority Pi Epsilon Delta. Her sisters were in the original film. She’s the one exception, feeling like an actual full-fledged character. She stands out as the highlight of the film. Michelle Bauer is Lisa, a sorority sister. Brinke Stevens is Taffy, another sorority sister. Audrey Neal is Ginger, a new pledge. Hannah Tullett is Devon, another new pledge. Glory Rodriguez is Bitsy, an orphan who’s also pledging. Unlike the other two, she’s a brunette. Jessie Gill is Sarah, another Sorority sister. Katie O’Neill is Tiffany, another Sorority sister. Luka Parente is Bart from a neighbouring Fraternity. Ashton Rogers is the Perfect Man or the man of Devon’s dreams. Nathan Blair is Turkey from a neighbouring Fraternity and a peeping tom who bonds with Bitsy. Justin Lupo is Dinger, from a neighbouring Fraternity. There are way too many characters and not enough time to develop relationships when the runtime is only 60 minutes.

Derek Jeremiah Reid provides the voice of The Imp. I like the creature design and voice acting but the puppetry isn’t good. I was never fully convinced it was a living breathing creature like masterful puppetry should do.

Overall, I didn’t enjoy Sorority Babes 2: In the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama because I found it hard to sit through. Strangely, it feels longer than an hour yet rushed again at the same time. It’s quite a paradox indeed. There’s a severe lack of horror elements. There’s no suspense or tension. Even when a kill is being played out as comical it usually doesn’t land well because either the comedic timing is off or because the joke is based ona painfully forced pun. If the script had gone through a few more drafts to punch up the dialogue and sight gags maybe this could have been more than a Leprechaun ripoff. I’ve seen some bad films but this one takes the cake. Granted, it’s not as bad as something along the lines of Nude Nuns with Big Guns but it’s pretty darn close. The story jumps from scene to scene without feeling like an organic narrative. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. And remember, it’s IMP-portant to be careful what you wished for.
