Vertical Entertainment is set to release THE EXORCISM, premiering in theaters nationwide on June 7th, 2024. Directed by Joshua John Miller, the film delves deep into the unsettling realms of curses and demonic possessions, drawing inspiration from the eerie legacy of The Exorcist, famously portrayed by Miller’s father, Jason Miller.

In THE EXORCISM, Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe stars as Anthony Miller, a troubled actor whose life begins to mirror the dark supernatural forces of the horror film he’s shooting. The plot thickens as his estranged daughter, Lee, played by Ryan Simpkins, grapples with whether her father’s erratic behavior is a relapse into old vices or something far more disturbing. The cast also includes Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, and David Hyde Pierce.

Director Joshua John Miller, alongside co-writer M.A. Fortin, seeks to revolutionize the traditional possession narrative. Produced by genre veteran Kevin Williamson and a team comprising Ben Fast and Bill Block, THE EXORCISM promises a cinematic journey where the lines between good and evil are not just blurred but questioned.

Miller’s vision for the film was shaped by the haunted tales of The Exorcist’s production—stories of mysterious fires, unexplained deaths, and lifelong injuries, which have fascinated him since childhood. With THE EXORCISM, he brings these macabre influences to life, exploring the darkness that lurks within us all and the horrors it can unleash when unchecked.
