The Shriekfest Film Festival has announced its 2017 finalists and is slated to screen the horror-thriller GNAW, featuring Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winner Sally Kirkland (Sally Kirkland) (The Haunted—A True Story, Two Evil Eyes) and Kyle Gass (from the comedy duo Tenacious D). Penelope Mitchell (The Vampire Diaries, Hemlock Grove) and Chris Johnson (The Vampire Diaries, Betrayal) also star.

When Jennifer wakes to find her grasp at a brave, new life interrupted by tiny wounds that seem to appear while she is sleeping, her waking hours begin to take a horrific turn. Soon she finds herself trapped in a chaotic spiral forged of sleep deprivation, paranoia and a paralyzing fear of the unseen, which like a pack of emotional phantoms, begin to derail her life, even forcing her to consider the unthinkable option of going back to her abusive, but somehow twistedly stable relationship. Jennifer’s only chance is to uncover the mystery of the strange bites, a mystery that seems to spring from the vacant apartment next door and the tortured woman who once lived there.

The Shriekfest Film Festival runs October 5 – 8, 2017, beginning with an opening night party at Boardners/Club Sinister in Hollywood and the remainder of the festival taking place at the legendary Raleigh Studios on Melrose Ave.
The festival will screen 10 feature films over the weekend, in addition to more than 30 international short films that range across the spectrum of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.

About the Author

From humble beginnings as a bisexual art kid who drank more coffee than a 40-year-old author, Remy now holds a BFA in Film Production from Chapman University and is a proud member of the HorrorBuzz team (and still a bisexual art kid who drinks too much coffee). They were first introduced to the world of horror and camp when their grandma showed them The Rocky Horror Picture Show at age 5, and never looked back. When they're not writing cartoons or working on movies, one can spot them in various clubs around Los Angeles performing very, very self-deprecating standup comedy. Howdy ho!
