The trailer for Jam was beautifully done that it gave away nothing to what was truly going to happen in the short film. I appreciate trailers that make you wonder what the film is about. This film delivers on it unexpected moments, like the ending, did not see that happening. Complete left turn.

The film begins with the urban legend about a young girl, a famous singer, a dog, and jam. Javitronicks, a famous youtube star, goes on the hunt to find out the truth about this urban legend. He does countless interviews with the public to gather information about the events that happened on the famous television show. Javitronicks get an email from an ex-worker, Eugenio, that worked for the show and has a copy of the original footage, the only copy.

Javitronicks meets up Eugenio and is a little wary at the sight of the man because he has a sling on. Eugenio doesn’t really explain what happened to his hand in detail, but you know some thing went down and it was not good. Eugenio takes Javitronicks to his place which is in a remote area, middle of nowhere. The entrance to his house is very suspicious because there is a certain way to enter. Weird…yes! Definite red flag!

Javitronicks documents all of this, in first person. We see what he sees, in the style of The Blair Witch Project, which just increases the danger of the situation. Javitronicks watches the video and is dumbfounded at what he sees. Eugenio begins to tell him the theory about the event that happened on the television show, but it happens off camera. Once we are back, that’s when things take one heck of a left turn. Eugenio runs away into the basement. So what does Janitronicks do? Yup! Walks down the basement to investigate. After that its  blur and I blacked out! Did not see the ending coming at all!

From beginning to end, it was captivating. You are lead to believe it is all nonsense, because nothing makes sense. What do a girl, pop star, dog, and jam have in common? The minute he steps into the Eugenio’s car and they drive into the middle of nowhere, I’m thinking, so this is how it ends for him.

The filmmakers did a great job of hiding where the film was headed. The story is absurd and makes no sense what-so-ever, but it makes sense at the end. We also learn a good lesson, never be a famous youtube star and get into someone’s car by yourself. And if you, do document it!

The film was funny and creative, but the ominous feeling that something was lurking in the shadows was very much present. Overall it was a well done film! Highly recommend it! Bien hecho chicos! Great job guys!
