78/52 Poster78/52 refers to the 78 setups and 52 cuts in one of cinema’s most iconic scenes, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho shower scene. Filmmakers, writers, composers, editors, and more, like Guillermo del ToroDanny ElfmanMick GarrisWalter Murch and many others, breakdown this single scene that forever changed movie making.

The scene is dissected, in some case frame by frame, and great time is spend on examining the construction of the scene and the difficulties face by Hitchcock in shooting, editing, and getting it passed the censors. From beginning to end, director Alexandre O. Philippe does an excellent job in making an engaging and endlessly fascinating 90 minute film about a three minute scene. 78/52 is currently showing at the Fantasia International Film Festival and will be released wider later this year.
