To celebrate its upcoming August 16th release, Fangoria has released new hand-painted cover art for it’s 70s throwback slasher flick Lake Nowhere. Eschewing Photoshop and slick digital effects for physical media evokes a time before cover art became the domain of marketing teams and instead reflected the artist’s vision for what the first impression of the film should be.

LAKE NOWHERE - Hand-Painted Cover
Lake Nowhere’s poster art captures this singular vision with a striking focal point as your eye is drawn to the central figure, almost glowing in a brilliant white, even through the blood-soaked bandages that cover her face. Her arm stretches out toward the viewer, beckoning for a way out, but surrounded by darkness, both from the looming figure of our killer in the background and the hands that come from below and entangle her in their grasp. Whether this scene is ripped from the film is of little importance, it’s the spirit the artist wishes to communicate and that alone makes it stand out from the pack.

Lake Nowhere is the story of six friends that arrive at a secluded lakeside cabin, only to discover that there is a masked maniac on the loose that begins picking them off one by one. A classic story from the slasher genre, there may be more going on than appears at first glance, with the film exploring supernatural and classic creature feature tropes as the group uncovers the secrets of Lake Nowhere. Shot to resemble bootleg film reel and preceded by original trailers and commercials, every effort has been made to bring all of the trappings of the grindhouse to a DVD player near you. The “Limited Edition” Blu-Ray/DVD combo will include the behind-the-scenes featurette, along with a writer/director commentary, actors’ commentary, and several previously unreleased teaser trailers for Harvest Man, one of the trailers which precedes the film. Lake Nowhere is directed by Christopher Phelps and Maxim Van Scoy and stars Laura Hajek, Wray Villanova, Nathan Andrew Wright, Oscar Allen, Melody Kology, Paul Gagnon, Charles Gaskins, and Matthew Howk as the “Masked Maniac.” Cover art by Rain Delmar.
