Did you ever wonder if we were alone on this planet? Then I believe this film is for you. Devil Town was produced by Nick Barrett and co-produced by Michael Rilke and Stephanie Powers. The film stars Matthew Hebden as Patrick, irritated businessman, and Johny Vivash as Driscoll, crazed homeless man. The original music was composed by Nick Barrett.

When his client fails to appear on time, Patrick makes his way to his local coffee shop. Along the way he passes a man, Driscoll, on a street corner who is holding a sign that reads ‘The world is ending’.  Driscoll drops his sign and follows Patrick. Patrick sits in the coffee shop and Driscoll begins to tell him ‘the truth’ about the silent invasion.

The cinematography was well thought out and complemented the film’s overall theme. The coffee shop was the perfect setting for the film. The interaction between the main characters felt very intimate and isolated from the rest of the shop. The sounds of the coffee shop came to a soft lull when Driscoll began to tell his encounters. Patrick was skeptical but who would not be. Everything about this specific scene was well thought out and it worked.

The smallest of objects can make an impact on a movie. The whistle used in the film changed Patrick’s views on Driscoll’s evidence. It was such a simple prop that changed the atmosphere of the movie. Patrick went from skeptical to almost believing. The music score complimented the film spectacularly. It is an interesting film that made me question who I am.

Now every time I step outside of my house or walk into a coffee shop I will look at everyone around with suspension. Great film, highly recommend! Devil Town has also been accepted to play on ShortsTV and will be available to buy through iTunes in 2017.
