Imagine diving into an entrancing world of perversion tinged with the blood of Christ, Eostre the goddess of fertility, garnished with candy-colored easter eggs, some baby chicks, and a few decorations and you have Zombie Joe’s F***** Up Easter Egg Hunt.

Running only 9 performances over the Easter weekend, Zombie Joe’s F***** Up Easter Egg Hunt has a lot more in common with April Fool’s Day than the Christian celebration, both slated to occur this Sunday. Giving an absurdist take on the longstanding custom of collecting colored eggs, this is strictly an ADULTS ONLY show.

The experience begins as theatregoers lineup, single file, place their right hands on the person in front of them, close their eyes, and get carefully led into the darkened space of Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre.

The air is thick with the trademark smell of incense and we are already in another place before we see a single thing. Our eyes open and on the floor, surrounded by candles is a naked girl. Yep. This is definitely a Zombie Joe’s Easter.

The immersive, interactive show is a scant 15 minutes max, in which time we are commanded to look for Easter Eggs throughout the building. The ensemble of fearless ZJU performers gamely engage guests as they tear through the terrain in search of eggs.

Yes, there’s lots more. No, I won’t tell you. I will say that Zombie Joe, again bounds off into the inky darkness of the unknown in an attempt to bring something new to the table. His cast and crew pull off a fun little experience that may not be for everybody, but for whom it is, it will feel just right.
