Back in 2017, cults were all the rage in the Los Angeles immersive scene. One that had me intrigued, but never had a chance to really participate in, was The Society, a spiritual group that returned to their home in the Angeles National Forest. However, despite their activity back then, they have secluded themselves as of late, mediating and communing with nature. Oh, and performing their rituals, of course.

The Founder of the group has apparently heard a call to share their spirit-world-view with the world again and have changed their name to The Society Now. They also are now performing public rituals through individual guided meditations at the Devil’s Gate Reservoir in Pasadena, CA for those interested in learning more about them.

The site is recognized as one of spiritual significance by inhabitants of the area, from the indigenous Tongva peoples all the way to participants in the modern Occult. It is apparently an ideal location for spiritual purification and guided exploration of the self.

The Society Now members celebrate the joyful pleasures of indulgence and sensation experienced within and without the human body. According to their press release, they partake in rituals based in Thelemic occult practices that encourage deeper examination of desire and sexuality, and the magic and power that can come with embracing these facets of the self both alone and in community. So…sex magic?

They are inviting new Seekers to join them in this spiritual journey in The Society Now: Babalon. Public viewings will take place every Saturday and Sunday between 8 and 11am and 6 and 9pm from August 3rd through September 15th at the Upper Arroyo Park in Pasadena.

Individual appointments may be booked for $45 at www.thesocietynow.com
