I lived in San Diego for ten years while I went to school, and I was lucky enough to watch the insanely creative minds at Savage Productions create Savage House, San Diego’s only fully themed haunt. This isn’t a generic press release–this is me telling you that these guys are awesome and you need to go check them out!

Now in it’s second year, this haunted attraction will immerse you in a story-line complete with a plot that begins from the moment you’re in line until you exit the last room. From the characters to the sets, costumes and makeup, Savage House is a unique experience. What’s even more impressive is that Savage Productions has found a way to contain this experience in a free standing structure in a public space (they don’t have a permanent location!). Another bonus to the experience is their interactions with their customers waiting in line, with things like nightly prize giveaways, horror movie trivia games, and photo-ops with wondering cosplay characters. They also have a large retail shop selling many of the custom horror movie displays that Savage Productions is famous for (seriously check out their shop).

Another one of the unique aspects of Savage House is their “Museum” which includes as many as 25 character displays from all your favorite horror movies, as well as vehicles from some of your favorite horror movies. This year they’ve also added a 600 sqft Walking Dead section to their museum including Daryl’s crossbow, Merle’s knife arm prosthetic, Michonne’s sword, and many other props.

Finally, Savage House done something no other haunt has done by having special celebrity guest appearances in their Museum for their hardcore horror fans. Come on specific days to see Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees) from Friday 13th, George Wilbur (Michael Myers) from Halloween The Return of Michael Myers, and Dan Yeager (Leatherface) from Texas Chainsaw 3D. They’ll even be having appearances from some of Syfy’s FaceOff contestants!

They offer all of this while remaining San Diego’s least expensive haunted attraction at only $16 for the haunt, $5 for the museum, or $18 for the combo of BOTH attractions! They even offer a fast pass for $5. If you loved your first time through and want to do it again, you don’t need to purchase a whole new ticket, simply get a “2nd TIME THROUGH” ticket for only $5 with your original admission wristband!
