This weekend not only brings the first day of October but it also brings the opening weekend of Knott’s Spooky Farm 2017! Taking place weekends September 30th-October 29th as well as Halloween Day, it’s a family friendly fete for everything Halloween!

This year kids three to eleven years old can trick-or-treat in Ghost Town while interacting with spooky yet sociable characters. After the kiddos have their treat bags filled, head over to the livery stable where the newest friendly haunter (Stanley Scarecrow) wants you to see his collection of Creepy Critters of Calico.

Fiesta Village is once again home to the celebration of Dia de Los Muertos. With plenty of photo ops, the hands on village enlightens guests to the history of DDLM and provides a great educational opportunity.

In Camp Snoopy the Peanuts Gang are eager for you to join them in a sing and dance along to the seasons favorite songs in “The Monsters Are Coming, Charlie Brown.” Located in the Camp Snoopy Theater, it is sure to entertain young children and bring smiles to parents while getting everyone in the spirit! Snoopy and his gang encourage kids to come to Knott’s in their costumes for a fun contest. Will you have what it takes to win?

New this year in Camp Snoopy, the Grand Sierra Railroad is ready for passengers who are eager to have some spooky fun! All aboard as you go on an adventure with the Peanuts Gang with some fun Halloween surprises to see.

The celebration is park wide during Knott’s Spooky Farm. Head over to the Ghastly Gallery, located in the Boardwalk Ballroom, for a chance to create their best “monsterpiece!”

Don’t miss the Timber Mountain Log Ride which has had a Halloween makeover and is now the “Halloween Hootenanny!” You’ll never know who you’ll run into while sliding down the flume but the catchy tune from none other than Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies will leave you whistling and toe tapping the whole way through the mountain. Keep your eyes peeled for the Green Witch of Calico. I hear she’s still stirring her cauldron and brewing up spells.

One of the greatest things about Knott’s Spooky Farm is that it is included with regular admission! If you love Knott’s like I do, now is the time to get a season pass for 2018. You’ll get all of 2018 and one free admission to use for the remainder of 2017. Check out Knotts.com for details and don’t miss this family friendly event!

About the Author

Erin Jefferson-Foley (Mommy Fearest) is terrified of scary movies, gore and zombies. But she loves all things Halloween and Haunt related! Slowly but surely she has been dipping her toes into the realm of horror movies with great results. Pretty soon she will work her way up to watching a scary movie when it is dark outside. Erin has had a love affair with theme park Halloween events for the past 20 years. Her first time at an event was at Knott's Scary Farm in the late 80s when a family friend, a Knott's employee, escorted her into the park to watch Elvira and give her a behind the scenes tour. She was intrigued as she walked through the break room and realized that they were just people in masks and makeup. It seemed like only a short time later, Erin was performing for Halloween Haunt which led to her meeting the love of her life, her husband. Each year she cheers on her husband and his friends as they set up and run a home haunt. You can catch her helping with line control and repeating the same instructions over and over and over to the guests each night. She has been a professional dancer and actress for over 20 years. When she is not in the studio teaching dance or in her office writing, you can catch Mommy Fearest with her husband and two kids at various conventions throughout California. She enjoys Cosplay, Star Wars, Renaissance Faires, Halloween, haunted attractions, paranormal happenings, special effects makeup and horrible reality television shows.
