OZ is in an uproar, and things haven’t right after Dorothy left. After the Scarecrow seized power, there has been civil unrest, with distressed citizens and violence in the streets. You have been recruited to serve in the Scarecrow’s Armed Militia…but things aren’t what they seem.

Next month, the fate of OZ lies in your hands with The Speakeasy Society’s latest event in the form of an Alternate Reality Game entitled “The Kansas Collection.” They are staging the first two chapters of this show, called “The Key” and “The Axe” respectively, during two weekends in February.

The Key was originally workshopped last year during the IndieCade 2016 Game Night, but is back again due to popular demand.

“Many people are familiar with the Wizard of Oz story because of the movie but haven’t read the many, many other books Baum wrote,” said director Julianne Just. “We are using those story lines to see what if ‘clicking your heels three times’ was only the start of an epic power struggle.”

While you are recruited in The Key, The Axe will find you on a mission to investigate the members of the Patchwork Resistance that have made their way into our world.

Participants of The Key and The Axe get to determine the story they experience.  Their choices will determine the paths they take, and Just warns that even a simple answer to a yes or no question will spiral them into a completely different story line.

As far as immersive experiences go, these both sound amazing. I’ve always been a massive fan of the OZ books, and have read quite a bit of them. Knowing that I can immersive myself into this world, AND get to determine its ultimate fate, is a big plus for me.

Both performances are expected to run between 15 and 20 minutes, but they may vary depending on the choices you make.

The Key will run February 10th – 11th and tickets are $15, plus fees. You can purchase them at: bpt.me/2785881

The Axe will run February 16th – 18th and tickets are $15, plus fees. You can purchase them at: http://theaxe.bpt.me
