After perusing the schedule for “Star Wars Weekend” earlier this year I noticed that they had a speed dating event scheduled.

“How cool,” I thought. “What a wonderful way for like-minded people to meet.”

And so at a party one afternoon I was chatting with Lora Ivanova, co-creator of ScareLA, as well as my film school friend Jackson, telling both about Star Wars Weekend’s speed dating spectacular.

ScareLA1

August 8 – 9 people. Spooky, sexy fun-time.

I mentioned how fun it would be if ScareLA had their own.

“I like that,” Lora said, “but I need something a bit more…spooky.”

“How about you throw some serial killers in it?” suggested Jackson.

“Yes!” I said. “I’d see that!”

“Well, why don’t you put it together?” asked Lora, turning to me.

…till death do us part.

And I figured, “Well, why not?”

On Saturday August 8th from 7- 9  pm “Serial Killer Speed Dating” will have its debut at ScareLA.

I’d hate to spoil the surprises in store, but yes, this is speed dating, and yes, there will be serial killers. (“Speed Dating” is a relative term, just like “serial killers” is a relative term…you think they’d let me bring in murderers, people?!).

Because the intention was to include everyone in the fun, all are welcome, no matter what kind of love you’re looking for. Think of it as a networking event: A chance to meet like-minded people. People who LOVE haunts and horrors as much as you do, but in the 3-minute speed dating style.

All this while you suss out if the person you are speaking to is a serial killer or not.

There will be some surprises. Maybe a gruesome death or three. After all, what’s a haunt without a little blood?

I mean, how much do you truly know about the person you’re with on that first date?

Serial Killer Speed Dating runs from 7- 9 pm Saturday, August 8th at ScareLA. Sold out, but walk-ins welcome until we hit capacity.
