Our beloved psychopaths at Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group need your help! They are taking the nightmare to the 71st Annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival and are looking for the support of their fans to get them there. The theatre group launched a GoFundMe campaign to bring their signature show, Urban Death to the largest theater festival in the world.

Urban Death is Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group’s (ZJU) most memorable show. The show uses a series of horror vignettes designed to shock, delight, and titillate audiences. Urban Death was co-directed and created by Zombie Joe and Jana Wimer in 2005 and brings in sell-out crowds performance after performance, year after year.

“Bringing Urban Death to Edinburgh would be a dream come true,” says Zombie Joe, “but we can’t do it alone. We’re asking for $40,000 to cover our costs for registration, venue, housing, flights, and expenses for our actors for the month-long festival. We’re taking ten people, which breaks down to $4,000 per person.”

“We love our community,” says Jana Wimer, “and we’re reaching out to people who love Urban Death, who love Los Angeles theater, or just those who love horror. Going to Edinburgh is a massive undertaking, but we know how wonderful our show is, and we can’t wait to perform at the biggest theatrical showcase in the world.”

In addition to playing to audiences in Los Angeles at Urban Death’s annual spring and fall runs (during the Halloween season guests must walk through a haunted maze to reach the show), the show has played in New York City, the Midsummer Scream Horror Convention, and Cape Town, South Africa.

All fans and supporters can donate to the GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/urbandeath, where they can watch a YouTube video of Zombie and Jana asking for donations (along with a few of their spooky friends). On the page, donors have the choice of picking perks and prizes listed for their monetary contributions. Prizes start from a $5 shout-out on Facebook to a $5,000 private performance of Urban Death for the donor and up to 50 of their closest friends. “Hell, if you donate $20,000 we’ll fly you to Edinburgh to see the show,” says Zombie Joe. The GoFundMe campaign will be open to donations starting now through April 1st, with a possible extension.

“This is a huge step, and one we’re thrilled to be taking,” says Jana Wimer, “We’re calling on the goodwill of our fans and friends to join the Urban Death family and bring us to Scotland this August.”

“Urban Death is a visceral experience that has no equal,” says Zombie Joe. “And we can’t wait to share it with the world!”

Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group aka Z.J.U. was born in August of 1992 in a small industrial garage in Northridge, California. The Underground continues to push the limits of live progressive theater as a vital experimental art form in honor of the famous Antonin Artaud, Bertolt Brecht, Anton Chekhov, Ivan Turgenev, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and George Lucas.
