If you’re on this site, chances are you have read our extensive coverage of Knott’s Scary Farm, the granddaddy of all theme park haunts. While it’s a lot of fun (and consistently our favorite event!), Knott’s has really stepped up their game in recent years with other seasonal events throughout the year.

This past weekend, Knott’s Berry Farm began their annual PEANUTS Celebration, a delightful event dedicated to Charles M. Schulz’s PEANUTS gang. This celebration is extended for 2019, with two additional weekends of fun, and runs from January 26 through March 10. Every weekend, guests can enjoy PEANUTS-inspired comic strip photo ops, new entertainment, family-friendly activities, new merchandise, delicious treats, and festive park-wide décor. As an avid goer to Knott’s, it’s amazing what they do to make the park feel fresh again.

I was there to take it all in on opening day, and let me tell you, I had a blast. Now, granted, I was originally meant to be accompanied by my family, but they all bailed on me. So as a grown, 30-something man, wandering the park by himself, I STILL had a lot of fun, so that is saying something.

Once you walk into the park, you’re greeted by some fun photo ops, allowing you to step inside the comic strip for some interesting photos. Knott’s does love them a good photo op when you enter the park, and it was pretty cool to see PEANUTS ones here. In addition to that, a lot of the park’s walkways have fun “thought bubbles”, allowing you to say what the PEANUTS Gang says, a simple, yet effective, decoration.

Of course, what kind of PEANUTS Celebration would it be if you couldn’t meet the gang themselves, right? The characters appear at some new locations throughout the park, making your chances of a random PEANUTS encounter pretty high. I had a blast saying hello to folks over in Ghost Town and in the stable, amongst other places.

While there is no ice show this year, Camp Snoopy Theater debuted the all-new Space Beagle show featuring Charlie Brown and Lucy, as the world’s famous beagle becomes the first dog on the moon. While a kid’s show, it actually is pretty adorable, and I will admit, had me chuckle out loud a few times.

Since I was already in Camp Snoopy, I checked out the Grand Sierra Railroad, which had a fun overlay, as the PEANUTS Gang head to the Beagle Bonanza in this fun ride overlay. I had never BEEN on the Grand Sierra Railroad before, and sure it was a little weird to check it out by myself, I still found it very charming.

If you’re wandering around Ghost Town, the festivities continue at the Bird Cage Theatre, as a seasoned artist will teach you how to draw your favorite characters in The PEANUTS Sketch School. These step-by-step instructions make it easy for kids and adults alike to create a masterpiece.

If you’re looking for a challenge, Franklin and Linus star in the PEANUTS Cowboy Jamboree in Calico Park, and have some of the rootiniest, tootinest games in Calico. Also in Ghost Town, Pig Pen has transformed the stables into his own meet and greet, along with some of his favorite animal friends in attendance. Who doesn’t want to pet a horse? There is even an mini-museum of the history of PEANUTS in Ghost Town for those who want to learn more about their history!

Though the Sky Cabin has been around forever, they have added a brand-new overlay to it to turn it into Woodstock’s Birds-Eye View. Get seated in his nest as the bird takes flight, offering you spectacular views of not just the park, but the surrounding area as well. Plus, if you’re a haunt fan, you can spy Shadowlands and other mazes!

There are also TWO musical shows for guests over at the Calico Mine Stage this year. During the day, Sally and Schroder will host a retrospect of music in The Music Goes Round and Round where they’ll have the audience dancing in the aisles. Pretty cool, honestly. But, during the night hours, it turns into Woodstock’s Musical Festival, where the PEANUTS Gang is joined by The Jelly of the Month Club. And if that isn’t enough nighttime entertainment for you, Fiesta Village can uncover Discoteca de Silencio, the park’s first silent disco. Put on some headphones, and have some fun with Snoopy’s brother Spike.

In addition, there are some pretty fantastic PEANUTS-themed treats to munch on. Lots of Peanut Butter flair, along with some Fruit Loops treats, cakes, and more. The chefs at Knott’s really go all out with these celebrations, and it’s so fun to see what they create.

Seriously, I had a blast wandering around the park on Saturday exploring the PEANUTS Celebration. Even beyond that, it was great to take in the park’s natural charm and wander the pathways. The rustic history is still present during the event, so if you need a breather, take a walk through the Western Trails museum or explore the old school house. There is a lot of cool history at the park, and you really shouldn’t miss it.
