Horror author Eric Kapitan’s sixth book, A Love Not Deceased, released February 3rd on Amazon! The novella is a work of romantic horror which follows Maggie, whose lover has recently shuffled off his mortal coil. From the author:

Maggie knows how to grieve. She’s done it so often, but now after so many losses, she’s ready for a happily ever after. Unfortunately for her, what she wants and what life has in store for her are two very different scenarios. Follow this dark, twisty romance that will make your toes curl and your heart stop! Discover where the lines blur between love, loss, and lust. She loves him. She loves him not. She loves him so much; she can’t let go.

Kapitan cites Clive Barker, Edgar Allen Poe, and Poppy Z. Brite as his personal literary inspirations, which speaks not only to the author’s tastes but to the heavy gothic romance vibe in the book’s cover and trailer, which can be found here. While I’m not often a romance reader, advance praise for the novella gives me hope for its cross-genre appeal:

“He has a very demented and forthright sense of humor and somehow, I’m not sure how he does it, but he’s able to take those emotions and transform them to the pages of his stories, creating something quite remarkable for his readers to enjoy.”

—William C. Bitner, Jr -Books in My Library.

“It’s a strange romance that will appeal to a non-romantic horror fan. The only real drawback is the ending: it came too soon. This story had more room to run: it’s a shame it didn’t.”

— Murray Samuelson -The Monster Librarian

A Love Not Deceased is available on Amazon now in both paperback and digital formats!
