James Quinn, founder of independent media production company Sodom & Chimera Productions, responsible for the recent experimental horror feature ‘Flesh of the Void’, which sparked a lot of controversy with its insanely graphic trailer, has just presented his new project, a dark, horror themed music video for the the song ‘Patterns to Follow’ from the international Death Metal/Grindcore band ‘Implore’, released through Century Media Records. Shot on Super 16mm and starring Austrian actor Andreas Radlherr in the lead role, the video depicts the surreal, symbolic story of three blind children, who follow an ominous, hooded man through a thick, fog layered forest. As they move along, things start to become increasingly sinister for them, as they feel their mental and physical energy being drained, seemingly connected to something mysterious the antagonist has been doing on a stone old, rotten attic, leading up to a terrible fate for the young individuals.

James Quinn says:
“The music video, or music short film, as I like to call it, is a personal, visual depiction of a subject that a lot of young people are fighting with in today’s society. I will leave it up to the viewer’s interpretation to find out what it is exactly. Just a tip: Read the lyrics of the song, which are presented in the video description.”

He also added:
“The visuals were heavily inspired by two very different things: For once, old horror films from the 20s and 30s, which often have a very intense sepia/black and white look, and on the other hand, the elegant and artful cinematography of Lars von Trier’s Antichrist. Combining these two and presenting them in CinemaScope was something that I’ve been wanting to do for quite a while, and finally got to, resulting in a film that has a grimy, grungy vintage feel, yet packed in a look that appears very modern’.

About the Author

From humble beginnings as a bisexual art kid who drank more coffee than a 40-year-old author, Remy now holds a BFA in Film Production from Chapman University and is a proud member of the HorrorBuzz team (and still a bisexual art kid who drinks too much coffee). They were first introduced to the world of horror and camp when their grandma showed them The Rocky Horror Picture Show at age 5, and never looked back. When they're not writing cartoons or working on movies, one can spot them in various clubs around Los Angeles performing very, very self-deprecating standup comedy. Howdy ho!
