When Ari Aster promised another fiendish horror movie we waited semi-patiently. When we got the first poster we saw he was seriously going hard for the high-concept horror that he gave us with Hereditary. We are nearing the release of his new creation MIDSOMMAR and today a new trailer was released. We now have the trailer featuring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, and Will Poulter and we are crazy excited now. Stop what you are doing and watch this trailer.

Midsommar

Synopsis: Dani (Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor) are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.

MIDSOMMAR promises to be another genuine mindf*ck with a story led by multiple unreliable narrators and an unspeakable unseen terror. All that we can say is, “Yes please.” I love that we are being kept in the proverbial dark regarding the details of the plot. We know that there are troubled people looking for mental and emotional escape who go to a secluded festival for relief only to be subjected to far greater horrors. We know that it stays day even when it is night, so nothing is hidden in darkness. Very nice. Can July get here sooner? Please?

MIDSOMMER is in THEATERS JULY 3
