Saban Films has announced that they now have the U.S. distribution rights for THE HAUNTING OF SHARON TATE, a true-crime psychological thriller from Voltage Pictures. The film follows actress Sharon Tate as she is plagued with visions of her impending demise in the weeks leading up to her and her unborn child’s death at the hands of the Charles Manson family cult in 1969.

THE HAUNTING OF SHARON TATE has a star-studded cast. Sharon Tate is played by Hilary Duff (“Younger”, The Perfect Man). The film also stars Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls, Cheaper by the Dozen 2), and Lydia Hearst (Between Worlds, “South of Hell”). Daniel Farrands (Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, The Haunting in Connecticut) wrote, directed and produced the film. Bill Bromiley and Jonathan Saba negotiated the deal for Saban Films, along with President and COO Jonathan Deckter for Voltage Pictures on behalf of filmmakers.

To this day, the Tate Murders remain a subject of horror and fascination. Even nearly 50 years later, people are still captivated by the mystery and misfortune that befell Ms. Tate and her unborn child. It is said that the scariest films are those rooted in history and truth.

Most recently, Saban Films also acquired James Marsh’s King of Thieves starring Michael Caine, Jim Broadbent, Tom Courtenay and Michael Gambon. At the latest Toronto International Film Festival, the company acquired Richard Says Goodbye, the Wayne Roberts-directed drama that stars Johnny Depp, and Sarah Daggar-Nickson’s A Vigilante starring Olivia Wilde.
