When a damaged college sophomore babysits for a family with a tragic past, she finds herself stalked by a sinister presence and haunted by ghosts from her own past. Soon, she and her friends must confront the angry spirit hunting them down one-by-one on a deliberate march toward its ultimate prey.

I would describe The Nursery as unwatchable but that wouldn’t be totally accurate. There are some very good visuals in the movie. These primarily consist of  makeup effects and lighting. I would, however, describe the film as un-listen-able. The weak performances of the film’s horrendous dialogue made feel like banging my head against a wall.

Ranae (Madeline Conway) has taken a babysitting job for the evening for an odd couple who found it necessary to interview her twice before hiring her.  With the parents off to the movies for several hours, Ranae is disturbed by strange occurrences including a disturbing vision and strange text messages. She gets help trying to figure out what’s happening from three of her friends who come over to join her.

In addition to her friends, Ranae contacts her brother Ray (Marco Lama) via skype. Ray, an avid supernatural junkie, is jealous that he’s so far away while she is getting to experience a real haunting. Ray researches the film’s exposition for Ranae and her version of Mystery Inc. I so wanted it to turn out to be the guy who runs the old amusement park.

Very little happens in The Nursery that will catch you by surprise. The story-line is pretty easy to catch on to and goes exactly how you think it will. As I mentioned before, the visuals of the film are pretty good. Possibly good enough to be able to follow the movie with the sound on mute. That’s the way I recommend watching it, if you feel the need to watch it all.
