A frazzled, zonked, exposed woman brazenly zooms through a zombified zone zigzagging along zestfully delivering zingers in a sizzling easy on the eyes exhibition oozing with grisly, zany pizzazz and all that jazz that aims to please horror zealots.

Naked Zombie Girl is Back is back is a short film about a girl in her birthday suit trying to fight her way out of a hoard of hungry zombies. Will she survive and what will be left of her?

Written and directed by Rickey Bird, it’s all about the action with little to no time for character development. At a 13 minute runtime, some sort of personal connection between the main protagonist and the audience could have been established as I’ve seen in other, shorter films. There’s no plot but the film certainly delivers what the title promises, a naked woman running around a junkyard slicing up zombies with a chainsaw. I never saw the original but this stands on its own just fine. I do appreciate good practical effects with impressive gore in full display to revel in.

Nicole Cinaglia plays Barbara. Since she is alone most of the time, the dialogue is at a minimum, but she’s believable as the frightened final girl at the climax of a zombie flick. This is a fun, fast-paced gory adventure that isn’t shy about displaying the female body. While the plot is lacking, it makes up for it with the practical effects for the bloody fights with the undead. The director uses tracking shots and close-ups to intensify the dire circumstances.

The gratuitous nudity could be interpreted as a metaphor for the vulnerability of the human condition or perhaps it could symbolize a feeling of defenselessness or helplessness. The zombies could be surmised as a metaphor for sexual assault. Maybe I’m overthinking things and you just want to turn off your brain to enjoy a mindless gorefest, but the beauty of art is how we all interpret things differently. I think fans of classic grindhouse flicks will enjoy this naked zombie chainsaw massacre, but Naked Zombie Girl is Back is not for everyone. And remember, what’s worse than those nightmares where you’re naked in a crowded public place? Being hunted by the hungry horde of undead in that same crowded public place.
