New-age aficionado Summer (Dana Kippel) is having a rough time, haunted by dreams, seeking the meaning of life and questioning her relationship to her diffident boyfriend.

She is presented with an interesting opportunity: The Game of Life, a series of spiritual obstacle courses in the vortex-ridden desert of Sedona, California. People who complete the course receive a cash prize. She convinces her four friends to join her on the journey, and they undertake the course, each with her own motivations.

Meanwhile, the entire event is being broadcast into multiple dimensions as a sort of reality show.

This movie is a mess. It has fun moments (my favorite are the three dark-cloaked figures who are certainly not vampires that they meet in the forest), but overall I am left feeling like it was a waste of time.

The new age concepts of the obstacle course start out seeming like they are being played for humor, but after a bit it seems like maybe we should be taking them seriously (face your inner shadow, speak your truth, let go of the past, forgive). I mean, good advice overall, minus the drugs.

Yes, the drugs. It is unclear what the women are dosed with, but partway through it is clear they are tripping, as they say, BALLS. This may or may not dilute the message of the story, if there is one.

It’s listed on imdb as a comedy-sci-fi. Sci-fi in that there’s this micro side-plot about the interdimensional reality show, so fair enough. Comedy — well, I guess. It’s more silly than funny. You may like that sort of thing.

Sound, cinematography, costume, all the technicals are passable but uninspiring, and personally, I find little to recommend.
