Jeez-o-fish! IFC Midnight just released a tense new clip from their new film Killing Ground and I think I’m gonna need a second to recover. The official synopsis describes the story as “A couple’s romantic camping trip becomes a desperate fight for survival in this ultra-raw, unhinged kill ride.” Ok, already interested. The clip shows a teenage girl who wakes up within the safety of her car at a campsite to find a creepy dude standing outside just watching her.

We love it when a movie is produced with a skill for unnerving scenarios. This one looks to push the envelope. Being out in the open, away from civilization, with the scariest animals of all, man, coming for you. Yeesh!

If you didn’t catch the original trailer here it is below.

Synopsis: In need of a break from the pressures of their life in the city, Sam (Harriet Dyer) and Ian (Ian Meadows) head to a remote beach for a weekend getaway. When they come across an abandoned campsite, with no trace of its occupants, they’re concerned. When they discover a lone, traumatized child nearby, they’re scared. And when they encounter two local weirdos, they’re in for a hell of a bad time. Unfolding in an innovative, time-scrambling structure, Killing Ground delivers both nerve-shredding suspense and gut-punching realism.

Writer/Director Damien Power stated, “I believe the best films, including genre films, spring from something personal and deeply felt. KILLING GROUND was born out of my fears for my children and my anxieties as a parent. Life in the West today presents us with few tests of our ‘ capital C’ courage: the life and death kind of physical or moral courage regularly examined in movies. Would I be able to protect my family if our lives were in danger? Would I fight or would I flee?”

Inspired by the unorthodox genre films and classic character-driven survival thrillers of the 70s, Killing Ground screened at Sundance this year and enjoyed some praise from critics and audiences alike. Killing Ground will be released in theaters and VOD on July 21, 2017.
