KILLER PARTY is a horror-comedy about a group of Hollywood friends who get trapped at a baby shower, when a mysterious outbreak turns the infected into homicidal maniacs.

If you are a  struggling actor, writer, talent agent who hasn’t found their man born before 1980, then this movie will make you laugh and nod with agreement at the character’s struggles. The film was written and directed by Alex Drummond.

Kurt Ela plays Nick the unemployed waiter/screenwriter who impregnated his wife. Nick seemed lost and out of place at the beginning of the film but, somehow, Armageddon gave him life. Rachael Dummound, plays Mary, Nick’s wife, and this woman is a bad ass. If your wife is eight months pregnant can’t take a hammer and kill her boss to save your life then I am sorry friend, she is just not the one. Mary is a supportive and lovable wife who wants nothing more than to see her husband happy.

The supporting actors did an incredible job with giving real emotion to their own marital and personal problems. The comedy and drama balanced very well through out the film. When Sarah, Alexandra Fatovich, and Pat, Rob Norton, fight over wanting another baby, you feel that Sarah feels unwanted and confused. There is something broken there and you want them to find peace towards the end.

Production values were also surprisingly good. There were moments where sound and image came together so seamlessly that it amplified moments rather than detracted from them. Pacing was on point, nothing seemed rushed. Everyone in the film had great chemistry making for a perfect ensemble. This was such a wonderful film to watch.

Let me take a minute to give my appreciation to Joanne, Susan Sena, who’s small eulogy was probably my favorite moment. Though she may have been a ravenous cougar and horrible boss, she was the sassiest and fiercest woman in the film. I also applaud the small child who got down and dirty and was not afraid to play with blood and guts. She looks like she had fun which made the scene that much more terrifying.

This film really pays tribute to the dedication and hard work everyone involved put into making it a great film. I laughed when I needed to, I felt sadness when needed to, it was a well written and directed film. Overall a great cast and crew to make a film worth watching.
