In exciting casting news, Maika Monroe and Academy Award-winning actor Troy Kotsur have been announced as the leads in the upcoming crime thriller In Cold Light. Directed by Maxime Giroux, known for his critically acclaimed films ‘Félix et Meira’ and ‘The Great Darkened Days,’ this will mark Giroux’s first English-speaking feature.

Written by Patrick Whistler, In Cold Light is a gripping tale of a woman named Ava, played by Maika Monroe, who finds herself trapped and pursued by those responsible for her brother’s death. Ava must make a choice between self-preservation and embracing the person she aspires to be.

Maika Monroe rose to prominence with her breakout role in the horror film ‘It Follows,’ which garnered her numerous accolades and an Empire Award nomination. She has since showcased her talent in films such as the thriller ‘The Guest,’ the sci-fi thriller ‘Tau,’ and the psychological thriller ‘Greta.’ Monroe’s most recent project is the film ‘Watcher,’ and she is set to star in Oz Perkins’ ‘Long Legs’ alongside Nicolas Cage.

Troy Kotsur, known for his remarkable performance in the film ‘CODA,’ made history as the first Deaf, male actor to win an Academy Award, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild Award, Critics’ Choice Award, Independent Spirit Award, and more. Prior to his feature film success, Kotsur enjoyed a successful theater career, including multiple roles in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of “Big River.” He has also appeared in films such as ‘The Number 23’ and ‘Wild Prairie Rose,’ as well as notable TV shows like “Criminal Minds” and “The Mandalorian,” where he contributed to the creation of Tusken sign language.

Director Maxime Giroux, known for his previous critically acclaimed works, is ready to make a mark in the international film scene with In Cold Light. Giroux gained recognition for his 2014 film ‘Félix et Meira,’ which became Canada’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards. His subsequent film, ‘The Great Darkened Days,’ starring Sarah Gadon, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won five Canadian Screen Awards.

Speaking about the project, director Maxime Giroux expressed his excitement, saying, “I am so thrilled to get this film underway.
