We have learned that the new thriller COME TO DADDY will premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. The directorial debut of producer Ant Timpson (The ABCs Of Death), COME TO DADDY will have its World Premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival on Thursday, April 25. The darkly comedic thriller stars Elijah Wood (The Lord Of The Rings) as a man in his thirties who receives an invitation to a remote cabin for a visit with his father after a lifetime of estrangement. The film also stars Stephen McHattie (300), Martin Donovan (Big Little Lies), Michael Smiley (The Lobster), Madeleine Sami (Breaker Uppers), and Simon Chin (Killing Eve).
Synopsis: Norval Greenwood, a privileged man-child arrives at the beautiful and remote coastal cabin of his estranged father, who he hasn’t seen in 30 years. He quickly discovers that not only is dad a disapproving jerk, he also has a shady past that is rushing to catch up with him. Now, hundreds of miles from his cushy comfort zone, Norval must battle with demons both real and perceived in order to reconnect with a father he barely knows.
COME TO DADDY director Ant Timpson’s producer credits include such dark and irreverent films as The Greasy Strangler, Housebound, and The ABCs of Death film series. The first-time director developed COME TO DADDY after the life-changing loss of his father initiated an exploration of the potential dark side of father and son relationships.
“As sons, we always have unfinished business with our fathers,” says Timpson. “So I thought, ‘What would happen if that unfinished business came looking for us?'”
COME TO DADDY is presented by Tango Entertainment and is produced by Mette-Marie Kongsved, Laura Tunstall, Daniel Bekerman, Emma Slade, Katie Holly and Toby Harvard. Executive Producers are Tim Headington, Lia Buman, Hussain Amarshi and Ant Timpson. Co-Producers are Alex Ordanis and Jacqueline Nguyen. Tango Entertainment financed the film with contribution from the New Zealand Film Commission.
