The movie Demons at Dawn, directed by , is about a hitman who agrees to one last job to protect his child. Still, as he continues his journey, he realizes there is more behind the scenes than he realizes. It sounds like a really interesting plot, doesn’t it? Well, let’s talk about it.

This movie honestly had an engaging plot. On the other hand, I don’t think it was executed very well. The film spends a lot of time building up to a climax that isn’t very exciting. They could have changed the pace to make it more exciting, or they even could have changed the location. I felt that everything was a little too bland. This should have been a 10/10 film, but it felt like there wasn’t enough budget, or the production was rushed, and in either case, the film just wasn’t enough.

The acting worked very well in this movie. The main character, Dustin Biggs(Kyrillos Saber), was clearly written as a badass, and for the most part (besides a few forced lines), he was a badass. The script writing had a ton of one-liners in it, but the overall structure of it was there. Once again, it felt like the script was a shell for something that could have been amazing. Yet, despite this mediocre script, the connection between the actors was good. Saber and Amber Doig-Thorne and some really interesting scenes together. Saber and Dani Thompson‘s scenes were the most entertaining part of the movie, and I think that the actors cannot be blamed for the final product of this film. They absolutely carried, and I wish everything else added up.

The movie’s effects drive off the film’s acting very closely. This is another part of the movie that worked well. It helped motivate some of the scenes and made it feel like it had a better scare factor. When using these effects, I think they could have gone a little further with it—maybe using more makeup and practical effects instead of CGI. The effects were not the worst part of this movie, but it has the potential to be the best.

Halloween is coming to an end, unfortunately, and many movies need to be watched by the end of this month. This is not one of those movies. Leave it for a later time and watch some of the classics. Respectfully, the movie is unique and tries to follow its own path, but that path isn’t very interesting. I don’t mean to blame anyone for the failure of this project, but rather show that if you are going to do something, you need to do it 100%.

4.5/10
