There are few more polarizing films in 2022 than Halloween Ends. The “final” film in the fractured Halloween Franchise takes what should have been a culmination of a 40-year narrative and focuses on a new character and story. Baffled Michael Myers fans sat through a nearly 2 hr film that focused on the clunky story of embattled babysitter Corey (Rohan Campbell) and his descent into madness and murder. That’s not to mention his romance with Laurie Strode’s granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak).

Oh, we get a conclusion for Michael and Laurie. But it is told as a B plot to a less interesting yarn of troubled romance. The good news is that our friends at Gore Culture have a different take on the film in their review here.

Before jumping to their review, here is a quick synopsis.

Four years after her last encounter with masked killer Michael Myers, Laurie Strode is living with her granddaughter and trying to finish her memoir. Myers hasn’t been seen since, and Laurie finally decides to liberate herself from rage and fear and embrace life. However, when a young man stands accused of murdering a boy that he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that forces Laurie to confront the evil she can’t control.”

Director David Gordon Green is behind the camera with Jamie Lee Curtis playing Laurie.

Halloween Ends co-stars returning cast Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, and James Jude Courtney as The Shape.

Non-Spoiler Review

The structure of the film is very well done, nothing different from the last movie by David Gordon Green. The film flows and captures people’s attention. There are not many jumpscares in the film as it goes for a more psychological approach, reminding people that terror is coming.

The film has a good amount of goriness even if less than the previous film.

The fighting and action scenes are a little scarce and the film looks a little stretched out and too long at a certain point.

The film score is B which is very good.

‘Halloween Ends’ is definitely worth the money for the movie ticket. I suggest you guys watch it there rather than streaming.
