It is time to catch up on the latest news and images on Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights for 2017. Things have been quiet this week. Yet there are still some bits of news here and there to savor. Progress is noticeable on two mazes as we wait, with baited breath for further announcements. We also take time to look around the park and see some interesting things happening worth posting.

Murdy has been surprisingly quiet over the past week. Maybe it’s that we had so much to catch up n last week, but after the announcement of two initial mazes, code names for four mazes, and teases about the Terror Tram, things have slowed a bit.

Upper Lot

Meanwhile, as progress simmers for Halloween Horror Nights, we see more work on the new facilities near the entrance of the park. Entering the park we turn right toward Waterworld and immediately see a perfect view of Hogwarts that wasn’t afforded until the demolition work began. We really hope that whatever is put in this place doesn’t ruin the view.

Looking back at the entrance of the park.

These big ol’ walls have popped up.

Please Universal Gods. Take Shrek 4D and bless us with an all-new something.

Walking toward Waterworld we see that the restrooms are still in operation near the construction site.

Will they still be able to use this area for a maze like they did last year or will there be more maneuvering?

This and that

As we passed the Despicable Me attraction we were accosted by a Minion. Thankfully someone walked by with a banana and we were able to escape.

Banana!

Lower Lot

More dirt being moved around in preparation of turning this area of the lot over to park operations eventually.

The Shining • Maze #2

This week Murdy announced that The Shining is nearly done being constructed. After this, scenic will do their thing in making the barren construction look like the movie. From what we hear, the maze will begin in the hedge maze. This is backed up by the resemblance of the archway of the maze in the movie to that f the entrance under construction.

The entrance to The Shining.

The end of the maze.

Jurassic Park Extended Queue

We also now see the walls have gone up for the maze in the extended queue of Jurassic Park. This one went up fast too! Very impressive. Still no word on what this will be.

Jurassic Park

Since we were down on the lower lot we decided to take a ride on Jurassic Park. I mean, what could go wrong? PUH-LENTY! The dinosaurs. They tried to eat us!

I’d like to know what this tree did to be deemed bad.

Love the inside joke here.

The falling jeep effect is still broken.

Oh but the spitting dinosaurs are fully operational.

Starway

We end with a look at the rapid progress on the Starway expansion. adding one extra row to this pathway down to the lower lot has proven to be quite the undertaking.

Glass has been installed on the first canopy.

That about wraps up our Halloween Horror Nights update from Universal Studios Hollywood. We will continue to update you fine readers as more news becomes available. Also, We just published a delightful piece on the opening of the new Voodoo Doughnut location in CityWalk. We hear they are planning on some devilish ideas for HHN as well.

Thanks for reading and we will see you in the fog!
