Even the wicked need a little rest, huh? Evil Twin Studios, the studio behind the brilliant Ward 13 Haunted attraction from last year, has decided to take 2016 off. In a statement, Evil Twin Studios released the following…

Thanks for all your messages asking about what’s next for Evil Twin Studios! Your enthusiasm and support has provided us the inspiration to create such award-winning haunted attractions as Theater of Terror, Raymond Hill Mortuary, and WARD 13.

Unfortunately, it is with heavy hearts (heavy, blood-oozing hearts) that we formally announce that we will not be creating a haunted attraction for 2016. After three very successful years in a row, we have hit the wall that every haunt eventually hits: we haven’t been able to secure a suitable location for this fall. Normally, at this point in the year, we have already decided on our theme, mapped out our haunt, and started pre-building props. Without that kind of lead time, we can’t create the amazing, horrifying experiences our fans expect and deserve. So even if we discovered the perfect location tomorrow, it’s safe to say there will be no haunt this year.

On the positive side, that means the creators, builders, and actors of Evil Twin Studios will finally have a chance to get out and enjoy all of the other haunted attractions that Southern California has to offer. Undoubtedly this will get our creative juices flowing to bring you an even more thrilling experience for the 2017 Halloween season! Until then, keep making nightmares come true!

Let’s just start off by saying that we are heartbroken with this news, but we get it. Creating a haunt is hard work. Creating a haunt that is as clever and inventive as Ward 13 is even harder. It’s surprising to realize how much work actually goes into creating some of our favorite Halloween experiences. You would;t think so but, by this point, much of what you will see in October is already well underway in production. These are large, very complicated, interactive performance pieces that need enough preparation time to get right.  It is a credit to the Evil Twin Studios Team that they understand this, and will deliver nothing short of their very best work to paying visitors.

We respect and even understand Evil Twin Studios decision to hold back for 2016, we just don’t like it.  Fare the well Evil Twin.  We look forward to your nightmarish creations that await in 2017.
