On December 19th, 2021, game development studio M3at Bicycle released an announcement trailer for their upcoming game, CONTAMINANT – a story-driven third person adventure horror game.

The game relies on conventional horror-genre tropes and takes inspiration from Resident Evil Remakes in part of gameplay, but as for narrative, game constructs nuanced and equivocal story inspired by post-horror/neo horror movies (Get Out, Us, It Follows) with body-horror elements.

Charlotte, the main character, becomes trapped inside a grim factory where she has to battle with disfigured and vicious creatures, interact with items defying’ the laws of nature as well as with the consequences of mankind’s flirtation with other realities.

As the story progresses, Charlotte visits two parallel realms: Trop – an abstract world of memories, thoughts and ideas and the gloomy grotesque world of Metaphor – a winter night forest, where darkness and violence reign among creatures vaguely resembling people.

While CONTAMINANT is not yet on Steam, we can expect announcements and updates to be made on their Twitter account.

CONTAMINANT Announcement Trailer

With a signature tune building up, your heart begins to race before the true horror has even come to light. The deep ominous narration. “The place where shadows suffer.”

Gorey sights of bodies hanging from stakes and chains. An unhinged man (or monster?) with his torso cut wide open wielding a chainsaw. A gruesome, giant skull that Charlotte seems to enter.

The trailer does a fantastic job of drawing audiences in with the terrifying imagery. I’m looking forward to any updates M3at Bicycle will have to share with us, and you can rest assured that we here at HorrorBuzz will absolutely be keeping an eye out.
