The excitement is building as the highly anticipated Tribeca Festival, presented by OKX, announces its star-studded lineup of Gala events, along with the much-awaited Opening, Closing, and Centerpiece selections. Set to captivate audiences from June 7 to June 17, this 12-day festival promises an unforgettable experience with an array of inspiring films, thought-provoking discussions, and electrifying performances.

Kicking off the festival on June 7 is the North American premiere of “Kiss the Future,” a compelling documentary that chronicles the incredible journey of a community of underground musicians and creatives during the nearly four-year-long siege of Sarajevo. The film also explores the 1997 U2 concert that celebrated the liberation of the Bosnian capital, shining a light on the enduring power of art in even the darkest of circumstances. Produced by the talented trio of Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Sarah Anthony, and featuring U2’s own Bono, The Edge, and Adam Clayton, “Kiss the Future” sets the tone for Tribeca with its theme of artists-activists and their ability to heal communities.

Matt Damon expressed his gratitude and pride, stating, “Ben and I are honored that ‘Kiss the Future’ has been selected to open the Tribeca Festival. We are thankful to the people of Sarajevo and to U2 for giving us the opportunity to tell this special story. Although it took place almost 30 years ago, we believe it holds great relevance in today’s world, reminding us that human creativity can serve as a powerful antidote even in the most horrific situations.”

To close the Festival with a flourish, Tribeca pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of the iconic film “A Bronx Tale” with a special screening on June 17. Following the movie, director and star Robert De Niro, producer Jane Rosenthal, and writer and co-star Chazz Palminteri will engage in a live conversation with David Remnick, the editor of The New Yorker.

Robert De Niro expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “A Bronx Tale is a project that is very dear to me, as it marked my directorial debut. I’m thrilled to celebrate its 30th anniversary at Tribeca alongside my long-time producing partner and Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal, the talented Chazz Palminteri, and a live New York audience at the iconic Beacon Theatre.”

The Centerpiece Gala event of this year’s Tribeca Festival is the highly anticipated New York premiere of Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental.” Set in Element City, a unique metropolis where fire, water, earth, and air residents coexist, this animated film follows the journey of Ember, a fiery young woman whose friendship with water-guy Wade challenges her beliefs and shapes her identity. Directed by the talented Peter Sohn and featuring the voices of Catherine O’Hara, Leah Lewis, and Mamoudou Athie, “Elemental” promises a captivating exploration of self-discovery and unity.
