Last year HorrorBuzz had the distinct pleasure of hosting The Screaming Room at the Midsummer Scream Halloween Festival in Long Beach, CA.  The amazing, two-day event gave the haunt community and its fans a preview of the wonderful fun in store for them in the fall with dozens of haunt and Halloween themed attractions from Southern California’s biggest theme parks and names in dark entertainment! This included walk thru mazes, horror-themed VR experiences and escape rooms, immersive theatre, over three stages featuring panels, presentations, and performances, and of course a film festival that celebrated up and coming filmmakers from all over the world in The Screaming Room.

This year the HorrorBuzz team returns to The Screaming Room to hold an even bigger, better, more terrifying film festival of carefully curated creations to cater to every taste. Film submissions are NOW OPEN we are calling for a variety of films that celebrate Halloween and the spirit of horror. and an especially keen interest in supporting the indie horror and beginning filmmaker communities.

We’re seeking to fill potential programming blocks including animated and family-friendly shorts, “creepy pasta”/urban legend inspired tales, comedic horror, extreme horror, and, new for 2018, LGBTQ themed horror!

Do you have a short film horror project that you want to show? SEND IT TO US NOW!

**Only submit films that fall into the horror genre or are featured around Halloween.**

In addition to an amazing lineup of films submitted specifically for Midsummer Scream, the 2017 Screaming Room included presentations from Buzzfeed Unsolved, an exclusive video presentation of favorite clips from “Trick R Treat” by writer/director Michael Dougherty, and a shorts block from the Etheria Film Fest. For 2018, even bigger surprises await – submit your film for a chance to be part of it!
