The highlights of the Fright Fest panel at Midsummer Scream 2017 were kicked off by the green-haired, long-nosed Peaches the Clown appearing onstage instead of what should have been makeup artist Scott Ramp. (We later figured out that Peaches was Ramp himself.)

Soon after playing the official clip for Fright Fest 2017 (which was both terrifying and epic), monsters flooded through the side doors of the theater and terrorized the crowd–from werewolves, to dead girls, to human-rat hybrid experiments gone wrong.

If you’re planning on attending Fright Fest this year, you’re in for lots of new tricks and treats. Magic Mountain will be expanding the event: two extra days of Fright Fest are being added to the calendar, and guests will be delighted at the new scare zones and mazes.

Fright Fest’s scare zones take immersion to a whole other level and maintain their uniqueness. This year’s new scare zone, Damned N’ Disguised/Change Before Your Eyes, guests will experience physical and aural transformations in both the people and environment around them—what’s one thing in one moment could be something completely different in the next.

Fright Fest will also be offering the Hidden Haunts VIP Tour, which is a combination of not only getting the VIP treatment while riding the rides at the coaster capital of the world, but also hearing the untold stories of the REAL hauntings at Six Flags.

For fans of Magic Mountain’s DC superhero theme throughout sections of the park, the new Metropolis area will feature your favorite characters from Suicide Squad. Be careful though, you never know what the Joker and Harley might be up to this Halloween season…

If the brand-new Justice League: Battle For Metropolis ride wasn’t enough, a new virtual-reality coaster now lets you battle some different demons. Rage of the Gargoyles is Six Flags’s new virtual reality coaster that allows guests to battle and shoot gargoyles from the inside of an aircraft.

The hauntings begin on September 16th—be sure to purchase our discounted VIP tickets here exclusively from HorrorBuzz, for a limited time only!

This weekend is the annual Midsummer Scream event at the Long Beach Convention Center and this year, HorrorBuzz is a bigger part of the action. We have a booth, like last year, but we have curated the programming for a new short film festival held at Midsummer Scream. We are calling the Screaming Room and you should come buy and check it out. We will also be selling a new thing called the Passport to Fear that every Halloween junky is going to need to get.

The Passport to Fear events are one-night, special ticketed events at the best haunts in southern California. We take you behind the scenes, introduce you to the creators of the haunted attractions you love and march you to the front of the line. It’s a guided tour of terror sold only by HorrorBuzz. This year there are four destinations including Knott’s Berry Farm, Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor, Six Flags Fright Fest, and a special night at the Winchester Mystery House on Friday, October 13th!

Tickets to the four events are on sale NOW at our booth at Midsummer Scream
and online here on the site.

About the Author

From humble beginnings as a bisexual art kid who drank more coffee than a 40-year-old author, Remy now holds a BFA in Film Production from Chapman University and is a proud member of the HorrorBuzz team (and still a bisexual art kid who drinks too much coffee). They were first introduced to the world of horror and camp when their grandma showed them The Rocky Horror Picture Show at age 5, and never looked back. When they're not writing cartoons or working on movies, one can spot them in various clubs around Los Angeles performing very, very self-deprecating standup comedy. Howdy ho!
