iHeartMedia and Bamber Productions have announced the upcoming launch of Magmell, a brand new iHeartRadio original podcast featuring the talents of the team behind the smash-hit thriller “Light House” (and HorrorBuzz’s own, Jeff Heimbuch!). The first episode of Magmell debuted on December 13, and subsequent episodes are airing every Monday for a total of 10 episodes.

“I’ve been obsessed with space travel since I was a kid, especially with how little we know about what’s out there,” said writer/director/producer Jeff Heimbuch. “Something about the vast isolation of it terrifies me, especially with what could be lurking out there.”

“I have been a fan of sci-fi since I was a kid, so getting a front-row seat to watch this podcast develop and unfold has been a delight,” said Holly Frey, Managing Executive Producer for The iHeartPodcast Network. “Jeff and his team have outdone themselves in bringing an original, tense and deeply compelling story to life, one that’s anchored in a premise of space travel, but is really about human connection.”

This thrilling new sci-fi horror podcast follows Captains Cydney Owens and Jana Prescott as they embark on an important scientific mission while aboard the USS Magmell along with Proteus, the onboard AI. Their mission is to visit the Helix Nebula and study it closely to gain more insight and knowledge of outer space. The mission takes a dark turn when an anomaly throws the ship off course, leaving the explorers stranded trillions of miles from Earth with no way home. Will they be able to find their way home to their loved ones? Why are they both beginning to remember things that never happened? Is there something lurking in the cold dark reaches of outer space, waiting for them?

Magmell was written by Jeff Heimbuch and Lyndsie Scoggin. The podcast features an original score by Kori Celeste and stars the vocal talents of Aly Trasher, Julia Henning, B.J. Grip, Mak Manson, Cat Tanchanco, Jess Fisher, and John Anthony Wylliams. Each episode is approximately 30 minutes long, making it the perfect, bite-sized, weekly escape from everyday life. Listeners can hear the official trailer now on iHeart’s website. Be sure to follow Magmell on iHeartRadio, Apple Music, Spotify, and anywhere else podcasts are available!
