Detective Eva returns to her hometown of Silverhöjd after her estranged father Johan Thörnblad’s suicide. Seven years have passed and the loss of Eva’s daughter, Josephine, still haunts her but another young boy’s similar missing case leads Eva to uncover Silverhöjd’s supernatural secrets that many wish to keep buried.
Eva fights for her life as Wass rushes her to Ylva’s home. As Eva clings to her last breath Wass must make a life altering decision that could save her life but subject her to the same fate as her daughter, Josephine. Wass doesn’t think twice before giving Eva her new lifeline. Eva must learn how to adjust to the new parasite living inside of her in order to save Silverhöjd.
Tom returns to work but finds that he is not stable. Wass tries to reassure Tom after he attacks a fellow officer upon his return. His mind has been taken over by Esmeralda and the event that took place in the investigation room. Visions plague him as he tries to seek answers. Tom must fight his inner demons if he seeks to return to the investigation.
The Thörnbald company continues its plight to level the Northern Forest. Thomas and Jeanette, Thörnbald board members, decide to come forward and stand up to save the forest but a decision has already been by Gustaf, a major shareholder of the Thörnbald Company. The forest will never be the same.
Eva learns what her father did many years ago to cause the events that are unfolding. This knowledge may be the key to saving the children but can an agreement be met after what Gustaf has done?
