Life is filled with two kinds of people: those who don’t mind elevators, and those who are terrified of them.

Something about being confined in a small space, while many stories above solid ground, just doesn’t sit right with some people. And rightfully so, if pop culture has taught us anything. There are plenty of scenes in movies that involve free-falling elevator, and it’s even the premise of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at many Disney Parks.

So, of course, it’s perfect fodder for a game show.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Twisted Twins, Jen and Sylvia Soska, will be messing  with contestants on the brand new show HELLEVATOR, coming to the Game Show Network for 8 episodes soon.

The show will feature teams of three people facing their fears for a chance to win $50,000.

From the press release, HELLEVATOR will featurea team of three friends riding a haunted elevator into various levels of an abandoned warehouse. One player must get out on each floor and conquer a frightening challenge in order to earn money for the team. But if they don’t make it back in time, the elevator moves on without them.”

Jen and Sylvia will be controlling the action from an undisclosed location, making sure each contestant faces their deepest fears.

Honestly, this sounds right up my alley!

HELLEVATOR is being produced by Matador and Blumhouse Productions, in association with Lionsgate Television. Executive producers Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity and Insidious) and Jay Peterson and Todd Lubin of Matador (“Lip Sync Battle”) are known for their great work in their respective fields. I am really excited to see how they blend the horror genre with game show elements for our entertainment. You really can’t go wrong with a formula like this, folks.
