Big news everyone! It was broken on both TMZ and Bloody Disgusting that the theme for the sitch season of FX’s “American Horror Story” will be part period piece, part modern day horror tale. It has  been revealed that the sixth season is going to delve into the creepy mystery of the Roanoke Colony disappearance. Photos posted by TMZ reveal period locations shot in Santa Clarita. However, the dead giveaway is a pic of a tree with the word “Croatoan” etched into it the bark. FX CEO John Landgraf, said that the sixth season will be“…set in two time periods…but principally in the present.”

The disappearance of 118 colonists around the end of the  16th century has long fueled speculation among historians and natives alike on what their fate might have been. There are theories ranging from disease, storm, cannibalism, or even just simple relocation. Some theories suggest that the colonists carved the word “Croatoan” into a fence post as a way of letting anyone who stumbled across their deserted outpost know that they moved to nearby Croatoan island. Regardless of said theories’ validity, it ties the season to a lore steeped in historic mystery.

Thus far it was only confirmed that Lady Gaga would be returning to the series for a second time. Them, actor Romika Annabell Osorio uploaded a pic to Instagram casually confirming her casting in the show not to mention that of  Kathy Bates and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Who’s ready for some Cannibalistic paranormal action tied to the present? We know we are.
