Green Apple Entertainment has announced the digital release date for its recently acquired film MONDO HOLLYWOODLAND, a sprawling, surreal feature from director Janek Ambros (IMMINENT THREAT, HUMAN CAPITAL, TEN THOUSAND SAINTS) and Chris Blim (WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, NIGHTMOON CITY), and executive produced by Oscar® nominee James Cromwell (BABE, LA CONFIDENTIAL, Succession, American Horror Story). MONDO HOLLYWOODLAND will debut on August 3 on Amazon and other transactional VOD platforms, and will begin a week’s run at Arena CineLounge in Hollywood and possibly other cities.
Riffing on the title of the legendary X-rated 1967 documentary MONDO HOLLYWOOD by Robert Carl Cohen, described by Variety as a “flippy, trippy psychedelic guide to Hollywood,” the sci-fi-tinged MONDO HOLLYWOODLAND follows a mushroom dealer and a man from the 5th dimension as they look for all things groovy and the meaning of “mondo” in Los Angeles. Along the way, these two encounter the various factions of Hollywood as they all bumble through psychedelic-fueled introspection.
The film was directed, produced and co-written by Janek Ambros for Assembly Line Entertainment and starring, produced and co-written by Chris Blim for Good Hammer TV. Joining Cromwell as EP’s are Galo Medina, Kelly Parker, and Co-Executive Producer Ryan Easton.
MONDO HOLLYWOODLAND also stars Alex Loynaz (PEDRO, 9-1-1), Alyssa Sabo (Totally Rad, Floor is Lava), and Jessica Jade Andres (DON’T WORRY, HE WON’T GET FAR ON FOOT).
