Bohemia Interactive is delighted to announce the release of update 1.13 for DayZ, which includes a legendary new weapon, new weapon attachments, balance improvements, new types of infected, and some interesting tweaks to the infected AI. The update, available now, also comes with a server wipe.

The first thing of note is the introduction of the new M16-A2 assault rifle. Featuring its iconic 3-round burst mode, the renowned weapon uses standard 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition and is compatible with most M4-A1 magazines. But that’s not all! There are also new weapon attachments available like the brand new ATOG 6×48 optic, and two new magazines: a 45 round for KA-74 rifles, and an impressive 60 round standardized magazine for 5.56x45mm rifles.

Next up are the balance changes. The unconscious state during firearm combat has been tweaked and its length now depends on which caliber has been used to knock down a target. The devs also made changes to player damage zones, which will reduce the chance for double punishments. Also reduced is the strength of police and plate carrier vests, which are less durable now and require higher repair kit consumption.

The infected AI got a makeover as well with the addition of new types of infected. Further changes include making stealth approaches more viable, making infected attacks blockable, reducing infected attack speed, and the increased likelihood of the infected leaving unconscious players in peace, thus avoiding the dreaded “waking up – unconscious” loop.

Update 1.13 also introduces the chance for wounds to get infected. You’ll need to either disinfect the wound or treat it with antibiotics, depending on the nature of the wound. There’s a new fever condition too, which can be triggered during influenza.
