Not sure if our beloved readers have picked this up but we love horror. We are also supporters of the LGBTQ Community. So it is with the greatest pleasure that we break the news that critically acclaimed screenwriter and horror expert Michael Varrati will be bringing his highly anticipated ‘Dead for Filth’ queer horror podcast to REVRY, the first global LGBTQ+ digital streaming service.

‘Dead for Filth’ was conceived to better dissect, discuss and debate historical and contemporary links between the horror genre and the queer experience. Varrati already serves as the annual host and curator of San Diego Comic Con International’s Annual ‘Queer Fear’ panel, where he and a group of influential guests discuss the LGBTQ+ connection to genre works. Varrati felt an annual event just didn’t do the topic justice as there is certainly no shortage of fodder for Varrati and his guests to discuss, from lesbian vampire seduction in the gothic novel ‘Carmilla’ to homoerotic presentations in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 2’ and the contemporary adoption of ‘The Babadook’ as a queer icon.
“There’s always been a strong correlation between horror and LGBTQ+ interests. Horror, more than any other genre, is the genre of the ‘outsider’,” Varrati explained, “It embodies a sense of otherness. When you exist outside of the mainstream or the popular crowd, that sense of other is something that you connect with and understand. I’ve been part of the genre community for a long time now and have been lucky to work with and meet many iconic artists along the way. The rich and profound conversations I’ve had led me to think ‘what if we got more time with each creator to just sit and really dig in, talk, and celebrate the genre?’ That’s what Dead for Filth is really ultimately all about.”

Varrati hints that the caliber of the conversations planned will be second to none, promising entertainment as well as analysis, saying “The slate of guests I have lined up for this show is insane. We’ve got legendary filmmakers and actors, authors, drag icons, film festival organizers, punk rockers, and a few wild cards. We may have some serious stuff to discuss, but we’re also going to have a hell of a lot of fun.”

The fun is all kicking off August 18th on REVRY, the only global LGBTQ+ dedicated digital streaming platform committed to bringing all facets of the queer experience to a worldwide audience. REVRY is delighted to be bringing ‘Dead for Filth’ to a larger audience as part of popular podcast library which encompasses topics from politics to health, religion and entertainment, all with a queer perspective, and are celebrating the launch by offering new subscribers 25% off their first three months of REVRY by using the code ‘DFF2017’.
