Season 2 of the clever horror series Scary Endings, has released their second episode entitled The Water Rises. The suffocatingly tense short is a story of newlyweds Jennifer (Kaitlin Doubleday) and Matt (Adam J. Yeend) who are enjoying a tropical cruise for their honeymoon when disaster strikes the ship trapping the couple in an elevator at the bowels of the ship. As the elevator sinks, the water of course rises, and time is running short to for these newlyweds to escape for air!

THE WATER RISES Horror Short Starring Kaitlin Doubleday - Scary Endings 2.3
Yes, the short is as tense as it sounds. and the Scary Endings team have cooked up one of the more nerve wracking than anything previously produced. Unlike the other stories in the series though this one has no exclamation mark at the end, no sort of crescendo which to me is my only minor issue with it. It’s not a flaw, but it’s a direction that didn’t leave me with the same breathless punch at the end. Regardless, this is a worthy entry into the cannon of dreadful horror bon bons.

AFTER YOU HAVE SEEN THE EPISODE…

After you have seen The Water Rises you can see how the Scary Endings team shot this impressive short. Water effects are a tricky element to work with, no pun intended. Sure the actors have to deal with getting wet but in this case it’s just about getting into a pool. You have to consider the set, the crew and of course, the equipment has to be there too. Add all of that and it is a genuine effort. Check out the video below to see how they pulled it all off.
