This past weekend at the La Mirada’s Halloween Club held an event calling upon spooky people to gather from all parts of the haunt and horror worlds. There were bands, vendors, hearses, monsters galore, and hosted by the infamous RIP The Undertaker! When you step forth into the Spook Show, you are immersed in a fun, welcoming atmosphere filled with the Halloween spirit. Everyone is welcome every year. There is no ticket price to enter the Spook Show ,(only your soul… ha-ha, just kidding), just bring your spooky self. Are you ready? Welcome to the 4th Annual Halloween Club Spook Show!

Unlike last year’s hot and sticky atmosphere, it was nice and gloomy , perfect for us creatures of the night who crawl out of our bat caves to gather with our horror brethren. I have been attending the Halloween Club Spooks Show since the first one, I am so happy to see it evolve so much and become more grander! It was a fun filled event with everyone there from the bands, to the clowns causing mischief, the vendors, and even the people just hanging are all very nice and happy to be amongst other who share the same love for Halloween and Horror.

IMG_0807Let’s begin with one of my favorite parts of the Spook Show, the monsters that lurk around. The weather was perfect this year, no one was melting or dying from heat exhaustion. The sun can drain every kind of monster besides vampires. The Spook Show was lead by RIP The Undertaker who was MCing, mingling with fellow ghouls, and welcoming all those who wandered onto the grounds of the Spook Show with his fun and eccentric personality. There was also the Reel Guise people bringing to life the characters from the most popular zombie television show, The Walking Dead. Since the Spook Show is a freak show/twisted carnival themed event, they encouraged people to come in costume (especially in clown/freak show costumes). It’s so much fun seeing people in costume, here are some that I found lurking about, even an Elvira and a little Sam! One of my favorite moments from the event was when a mischievous group of clowns see other clowns not apart of their group they would go up to them, hug each other and get wild! They were a hoot! I love how this event is open for people to have fun, dress up and be spooky.

IMG_1022Next is the entertainment featured on the main stage! All the bands are rocking and super fun, from The Rhythm Coffin, Monte Revolta and His Band of the Living Dead, Haunted Garage, The Jetties, and Nic Nassuet & the Society of Sorrow, and The Jimmy Psycho Experiment. Each brought their own flare for the macabre and their own sound. With The Rhythm Coffin, during one of their numbers, heads were literally flying into the dancing audience and the spooky guests had so much fun. I always love seeing the Rhythm Coffin every year, they are such a ghoulishly delightful treat. It’s also fun seeing the Rhythm Coffin band members lurking around the Spook Show all day having fun. I experienced Monte Revolta the first time at the Scare LA after party last year and they were a blast, I felt the same when I saw them again at the Spook Show this year! Beginning their set with the upbeat song HELL, they brought the same fun energy from
Scare LA and it was AWESOME! With the bands the Jetties, Jimmy Pshyco, IMG_0890Nic Nassuet keeping the energy up throughout the day, we finally come to the last band of the evening
raising the spirits from last Halloween with their spooky antics that include the Slenderman. In between the band sets were a variety of acts and entertainment such as the infamous Dangerous D performing his crazy shock show, Edward Jamson’s Combustible Circus with his fiery fury, and other side acts. The Spook Show is not a boring affair, there is always something happening, especially on the stage.

Last but Not Least, are the vendors! Throughout the year Horror/Halloween fans get opportunities to purchase great spooky items from local artists selling amazing masks and prosthetics to jewelry, clothes, evil dolls, ghoulish soaps, spooky pillows, and even just freaking cool art. Haunts like Ten Thirty-One Productions promoting their Horror movie nights with an evil barker gathering people to spin the wheel to win tickets and a monster lurking about from their LA Haunted Hayride! Fear Station was also there with their fun games and even The Crossroads Escape Games had a booth. I always love how Cinema Secrets would hold free makeup applications at their booth every year so no fiend was left out in the spooky celebrations. Plus if you attended the Spook Show everyone received 40% off their creepy items in the Halloween Club itself. I saw monsters lugging lots of wonderfully horrorific items from the store, surely to decorate their haunted mansions. Also, right outside the Spook Show in their parking lot is a gathering of hearses filled with skeletons, corpses, and even an evil hearse with horns!
