Months ago, I read about this lovely little game called Summer Camp, where you would play as the teens trying to survive…or the maniacal killer gunning for them. It looks fantastic, and I couldn’t wait for it.

Now, here we are, mid-October, and more information about the game has been revealed. Except, it is no longer called Summer Camp. Oh, no. Now it’s officially Friday the 13th: The Game!

How. Awesome. Is. That?!

Gun Media is working to bring Jason out of the 8-Bit realm that we fondly remember him from, and into today’s high definition gaming world.

Back when it was still called Summer Camp, we learned that Kane Hodder and Tom Savini were going to help with it, and Harry Manfredini would be doing the score. Hell, we should have seen the signs pointing toward it being a Friday the 13th game then, eh?

While talking to Bloody Disgusting about it earlier this year, Wes Keltner, co-creator of the game, explained that Kane was exactly what they were looking for.

“Honestly, who else could we have chosen for the role of the killer?” Wes said. “Several people have worn the mask, but in our eyes, there was only one. Kane has the body type, the presence and demeanor that personify the unrelenting, undying killing force we’re after for Summer Camp.” Of course, now it’s official that Kane will be reprising his role as Jason, the hockey mask wearing killer from the Friday the 13th films.

Gun Media is in the midst of a crown funding campaign right now to raise $700,000 on Kickstarter. Of course, it will end on Friday, November 13th. Because, duh.

Check out the trailer for the game below, and be sure to contribute to help bring Jason home!
