Today Blumhouse released a first-look image of Charlie, the titular character from their upcoming FIRESTARTER. Adapted from the classic Stephen King novel, the film tells the story of a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon. Firestarter is being directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil) and the script was adapted by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, Rectify).

Young actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong (American Horror Story, The Tomorrow War, It: Chapter II) has been cast as ‘Charlie’ in the upcoming feature film Firestarter from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse and Weed Road Pictures.

Cast in the role of Charlie is Ryan Kiera Armstrong. The youngest of 5, Ryan began her professional acting career in 2015 and is, if you will pardon the expression, on fire. Her first audition was her first bookingShe has worked with  Julie Taymor, Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander, Timothy Hutton, Bill Skarsgard, Amanda Seyfried, Milo Ventimiglia, Kevin Costner, Chris Pratt, Scarlett Johansson, Betty Gilpin and J.K. Simmons, among others. In 2020/2021 Ryan joined the tenth season cast of American Horror Story.

in May, Blumhouse Productions announced via social media that the company’s film Firestarter had officially begun production in Canada. Zac Efron (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, The Greatest Showman) and Michael Greyeyes (Wild Indian, Rutherford Falls, True Detective) were also been announced as the film’s stars.

Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman are signed on as producers. Martha De Laurentis, who served as an associate producer on the 1984 adaptation of the Firestarter novel (which starred a young Drew Barrymore) has signed on as executive producer.
