GORN, the VR colosseum battle sim from developer Free Lives where you can kill giant crabs, pummel foes with their own severed limbs, and uppercut people into the stratosphere, has launched on SteamVR and Oculus after two years of battling its ways through the hordes of Early Access.

Independent developer Free Lives (Broforce, Genital Jousting) and virtual game publisher Devolver Digital (also Broforce, Genital Jousting) have announced that VR sensation GORN has smashed out of Early Access and launched as GORN v1.0 on SteamVR and Oculus.

GORN is a ludicrously violent VR gladiator simulator, made by Free Lives, the developers of Broforce and Genital Jousting. Featuring a unique, fully physics driven combat engine, GORN combatants will be able to creatively execute their most violent gladiatorial fantasies in virtual reality. Savagely strike down an infinite supply of poorly-animated opponents with all manner of weapons – from swords, maces, and bows to nunchucks, throwing knives, massive two-handed warhammers or even your blood-soaked bare hands. The only limits to the carnage are your imagination and decency, in the most brutal and savage VR face-smashing game ever produced by man.

Free Lives spent the past two years adding in everything from new weapons and opponents to local cooperative modes and even a custom language within the GORN universe. That last one is a joke that frankly just got out of hand until they had a full language and a five-track hip-hop EP in said language. The final update in Early Access brings an ultimate showdown with a longtime nemesis, a new weapon, and more alongside SteamVR Index support and a slew of fixes and tweaks.

About the Author

Ethan Allen was born and raised in the south bay (SoCal). At age 5 he was taken to the theater to see Halloween 2. Since that time he hasn’t been able to bite into an apple because of the fear of chomping down into a razor blade. At age 12 he went to his first haunt (Knotts Scary Farm) and only has missed a handful of years since then. Ethan has an unhealthy obsession with Elvira, 80’s slashers, and universal monsters which is borderline creepy.
